Temporary Comfort

Inspired by jet lag, this flip book captures the elusive comfort of traveling. Featuring my favorite travel companion—an overused blue inflatable neck pillow, each page documents its change in formation. This carry-on eases me into temporal repose as I slip into the passenger seat (aisle preferred). As I blow my breath into the pillow, it awkwardly balloons until it reaches an acceptable level of comfort. I will then deflate it into the smallest piece of carry-on imaginable. This repetitive process has grown into a personal travel ritual. Essentially, the inflation and deflation of the pillow represents a single trip from one city to the next.

Measured by slumber, this book is just one of the many ways I map my journey between places.
